Tunbridge Wells – boot room with built-in dog bed
Private client – Tunbridge Wells, Kent
The Brief
Rex, the family’s black Labrador, comes in first, every time. The client wanted a boot room built around that: a bed big enough for him under the window, out of the way of the door, with the coats, boots and bags of a busy household handled just as well.
The Neatsmith Designer’s Solution
Our Tunbridge Wells designer gave Rex the window. A dark oak run below the sill opens into a recessed bed, upholstered on the base and up the back, lit and wide enough for him to stretch out in, with open shelving alongside for leads and towels.
Opposite, full-height Shaker doors in After Eight matt lacquer, a dark oak interior behind, turned hooks in three sizes, and an upholstered bench with boot shelving beneath.

The Final Result: Designed around your whole family
Deep green doors, brass knobs, dark oak behind: closed, it reads as part of the house. Open, it works. Coats on the hooks, boots under the bench, small things in the lit cubbies above, and the full-height mirror for the last look on the way out. But the room belongs to Rex.
He gets the window, the light, and a bed built in dark oak to the same standard as everything else in the room.
