The Brief
A returning client invited us to transform the entire family living room into a beautiful and considered, multifunctional space. The brief was ambitious: to accommodate the television, a fully equipped bar and a collection worthy of displaying. It also needed to house a sewing machine and a rowing machine that could disappear behind bespoke cabinetry when not in use to create an elegant and uncluttered space.
The Neatsmith Designer’s Solution
Our designer ran Otto doors in Muschia matt lacquer around the room, the brass inlay catching the light against dark oak inside.
Above the bar, two display cabinets are fronted in Bronze Reflex glass — bronze mirror with the lights off, then transparent once the interior lighting comes on, so the glassware appears. Below, an antique mirror back panel, a rack for stemware and warm LED throughout.
Open shelving carries the collection against decorative glass back panels, and cabinets were built around the sewing machine and the rowing machine so both close away.
The Final Result: A beautiful multifunctional space
A single room for entertaining, storage and display. The Otto doors carry one colour around the whole wall, with the brass inlay picking up the light off the bar.
Switch the cabinet lights on and the Reflex fronts turn from bronze mirror to a lit display of glassware.
The sewing machine and the rowing machine sit behind doors that match everything else. It is the client’s fourth order with us, which is the part we are proudest of.
